We leave the port of Leith on Monday July 15 at 3:30 UTC to pick up the transect again. Just like last year (16 July 2018) we pass Bass Rock, a large rock on which 10% of the world population of gannets (Morus bassana) breeds. At 11:56 UTC we start at 56.08N-0.10W in an easterly direction.

Occasionally we see a school on the ground, but it is not enough to fish. We also see a blurry blue layer above the bottom. We know from last year that these are probably crystal gobies (Crystallogobius linearis). At 15:21 UTC we see a few more schools together and decide to shoot the net for haul 19. The catch consists of haddock, whiting and some herring, (again) just like last year in this area (haul 14 -16 in 2018).

Hello,Thnak you for the great blogs. How do crystal gobies (Crystallogobius linearis) look on the 120 khZ?
