Meer jonge schelvis/More juvenile haddock

Op vrijdag 5 juli 2019, 3:13 UTC, beginnen we op 57.39N-2:00E en varen in westelijke richting. Op 7:23 UTC stoppen we om te vissen op grote, wat wazige, scholen hoog boven de bodem (Trek 9). De vangst bestaat uit 3 manden jone schelvisjes. Dat is niet de eerste keer deze reis: ook de vangst van trek 6 werd gedomineerd door jonge schelvis.
On friday 5 July 2019, 3;13 UTC, we start at 57.39N-2.00E in western dierection. At 7:23 UTC we stop to fish for large, a bit blurry schools, high above the bottom (haul 9). The catch consists of 3 baskets of juvenile haddock. This is not the first time this trip: the catch of haul 6 was also dominated by juvenile haddock.

De vangst van trek 9: jonge schelvis. Zoals in de meeste trekken, zitten er ook gele haarkwallen (Cyanea capillata) in de vangst. - The catch of haul 9: juvenile haddock. Like in most hauls, there are also some lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata) in the catch.

Om ongeveer 11:00 UTC vissen we op aantekeningen aan de grond (Trek 10). De vangst bestaat uit haring van 20 - 27 cm. Dat is wat kleiner de dan de vorige trekken. At approximately 11:00 UTC we fish on recordings at the bottom (Haul 10). The catch consists of herring in the range of 20-27cm, which is smaller than in the previous hauls.

Vooraan op de meetplank (links op de foto) liggen enkele wijtingen, achteraan liggen enkele schelvissen - In front of the measuring board are some whitings (at the left on the photo), at the back some haddocks.

Boven: kromme pijlinktvis (Todaropsis eblanae). Onder: slanke pijlinktvis (Illex coindetii). - Upper: lesser flying squid (Todaropsis eblanae). Lower: broadtail shortfin squid (Illex coindetii).

Vissoorten in de vangst van trek 10: schelvis, makreel, haring, kever en wijting - Fish species in the catch of haul 10: haddock, mackerel, herring, Norway pout and whiting.

Om 18:28 UTC bereiken we het westelijke uiteinde van het transect op 57.39N-1.44W. We varen - van het transect af - naar 57.24N-1.03W, om de volgende ochtend (zaterdag 6 juli) alvast een stukje van het volgende transect en het zeer korte transect daaronder te varen in westelijke richting. Zodoende kunnen we dan voor 11:00 UTC in Aberdeen zijn voor de reparatie van de bakboord-hoofdmotor.

Op zondag 7 juli gaat Bram met de racefiets op bezoek bij Eric Armstrong die ten westen van Aberdeen woont. Eric heeft jaren lang deelgenomen aan de blauwe wijting survey aan boord van de Tridens.
