Op maandag 8 juli om 14:00 UTC verlaten we de haven van Aberdeen. Het is nog een paar uur varen naar het begin van het transect en dat is maar goed ook, want de motor moet nog afgesteld worden. Hiervoor wordt met verschillende toerentallen getest, met als gevolg ruis op het echogram.
On Monday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m., we leave the port of Aberdeen. It is still a few hours sailing to the start of the transect and that is a good thing, because the engine still has to be adjusted. For this, testing is performed at different speeds, resulting in noise on the echogram.

Om 19:05 zien we kleine rode schooltjes op ongeveer 30 m onder de oppervlakte. We proberen hierop te vissen, maar telkens als bovenpees op 30m zit, komen de visborden boven water en wordt het net niet meer goed open gehouden. Dus houden we de bovenpees op 35-40m en zelfs even aan de bodem. De visvangst - 10 kg - bestaat uit een mix van sprot, schelvis, kever, haring, kristalgrondel en zandspiering. We vermoeden dat de haring en kristalgrondel van boven de bodem komt en dat de overige soorten de rode schooltjes vormen die we hoger in de waterkolom zien.
At 19:05 UTC we see small red schools at about 30 m below the surface. We try to fish for this, but every time the headline is at 30 m, the fish doors come to the surface and the net is no longer kept open properly. So we keep the headline at 35-40 m and even at the bottom for a while. The fish catch - 10 kg - consists of a mix of sprat, haddock, Norway pout, herring, crystal gobies and sandeel. We suspect that the herring and crystal gobies come from above the bottom and that the other species form the red schools higher up the water column.

We stoppen om 21:05 UTC op 57.55N-0.24W. De volgende ochtend, dinsdag 9 juli 2019, varen we vanaf deze locatie verder in oostelijke richting. Op het echogram, op de bodem, verschijnen kleine groene schooltjes met af en toe een rode. Net als bij de vorige trek bevinden zich ook nu kleine rode schooltjes hoger in de waterkolom. Dit keer vissen we aan de bodem. De vangst bestaat uit 100 kg haring.

We stop at 9:05 UTC at 57.55N-0.24W. The next morning, Tuesday July 9, 2019, we will sail from this location to the east. Small green schools with occasional red ones appear on the echogram, on the bottom. Just as with the previous haul, small red schools are visible higher in the water column. This time we fish at the bottom. The catch consists of 100 kg herring.

Bij het halen van trek 12, vallen er kleine visjes uit de mazen op het dek: kristalgrondel, zandspiering, kever. Aangezien deze ook bij de vangst horen, worden ze door Serdar verzameld, om ze te registreren en te meten - When lifting haul 12, small fish fall out of the meshes on the deck: crystal gobies, sandeel, Norway pout. As these are also part of the catch Serdar collects them to record and measure them.
