Op zaterdagochtend 4:02 UTC starten we op 56.20.47N-0.57.84W in zuidwestelijke richting. Om 9:01 UTC op 55.58.36N-2.14.60W draaien we vlak voor de de kust bij Saint Abbs Head, bij de zuidkant van de ingang van de Firth of Forth, naar het oosten. We bevinden ons ongeveer 20 zeemijl van Bass Rock, een rots met de grootste kolonie Jan van Genten ter wereld (ongeveer 150.000 broedparen). Dat is te merken, want overal om ons heen zijn Jan van Genten te zien. Ze zijn ook aan het het foerageren. Op het echogram zijn kleine scholen te zien in de waterkolom en bij het wateroppervlak. Het opvallende is dat deze scholen sterker tekenen op de hogere frekwenties (70, 120 en 200kHz) dan op de lagere frekwenties (18 en 38 kHz). Dit wijst er op dat dit geen haring, sprot of kabeljauwachtigen zijn, maar dat het gaat om een soort zonder zwemblaas: makreel of zandspiering. We nemen de proef op de som en zetten het net uit voor trek 20. Omdat het net niet goed staat op de netsonar - mogelijk doordat er iets is mis gegaan bij het uitzetten - halen we na korte korte tijd en zetten opnieuw uit (trek 21).
On Saturday morning 4:02 UTC we take off at 56.20.47N-0.57.84W heading southwest. At 9:01 UTC at 55.58.36N-2.14.60W we turn east just off the coast at Saint Abbs Head, at the south end of the entrance to the Firth of Forth. We are about 20 nautical miles from Bass Rock, a rock with the largest gannet colony in the world (about 150,000 breeding pairs). This is noticeable, because Jan van Genten can be seen all around us. They are also foraging. The echogram shows small schools in the water column and near the water surface. The striking thing is that these schools show more strongly on the higher frequencies (70, 120 and 200 kHz) than on the lower frequencies (18 and 38 kHz). This indicates that these are not herring, sprat or cod-like species, but that they are a species without a swim bladder: mackerel or sand eel. We decide to check this and shoot the net for haul 20. Because the net is not in the right position on the net sonar - possibly because something went wrong during shooting - we take it out after a short short time and set it again (haul 21 ).

Tijdens trek 21 horen we dat opnieuw een bemanningslid wegen familieomstandigheden naar huis moet. Direct na het halen van het net, om 13:00 UTC, varen we 60 zeemijl langs de kust naar de monding van de Tyne, die naar de Newcastle leidt. Daar wordt hij om 18:00 UTC opgepikt door een tenderbootje.
